VisMatters 2017 | UNSW EPICentre Sydney 21-22 November 2017

Visualisation Matters 2017 (VisMatters 2017) is designed to inspire audiences and demonstrate how art, science, design and engineering can be closely connected through visual creativity. Vis Matters 2017 this year is co-organised by the Expanded Perception and Interaction Centre, UNSW (EPICentre), CSIRO Data61, Sydney Khronos Chapter, Brisbane SIGGRAPH Chapter and ACEMS.
The works were composited with the rest of the art works within the the large immersive 360 cylindrical sphere of EPICentre. EPICentre currently host the highest resolution cylinder in the world with 120 million pixels in 3D. UNSW's EPICentre makes decades of accumulated historic and massive volumes of new data that is being generated more usable. Cutting-edge computing, 3-D immersive and screen-based technologies render this data visible and enable scientists to get inside and be immersed in some of the most challenging and complex medical and health problems.

Asia Animation Forum 2017The Expansion of Senses Bucheon Korea 22-24 October 2017

The Asia Animation Forum(AAF) is an international academic event held annually in Bucheon, Korea. The AAF intends to rediscover the value of Asian animation and establishes a global network to promote further cooperation in the fields of aesthetic, education, creation, industry, and policy. It is part of the Bucheon Animation Festival(BIAF) the largest and a main animation festival in Korea. Originally established in 1999 as the Puchon International Student Animation Festival (PISAF) Asia Animation Forum(AAF) organized by this BIAF's broaden approach towards the realm of animation. Curators and artists gave series of talks on topic of interdisciplinary methodologies of art and science for experimental animation and film making.The Symposium talks were opened to NTU community on 11th of October at the NTU School of Art, Design and Media as well as to a wider audience on 12th of October at the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art in Gillaman Barrack at the event titled Pecha Kucha Night 7. In conjunction with the Symposium, media Art Exhibition took place on 11 -28 October, 2017 with a twenty-four project by twenty-five international and local artists co-curated and co-produced for exhibit the North Spine Plaza. The mediums ranged from VR to video and interactive works. The works were programmed for site specific led displays –NTU LED screen @ the North Spine Plaza 19.2m by 12m and for the Media Art Nexus NTU, 15 x 2meters.

Media Art Nexus NTU (MAN) is one among 13 Singaporean (SG) and Japanese (JP) leading contemporary creative talents from disciplines performing and visual arts that took part in this year’s edition of Singapore: Inside Out Tokyo (SG:IO) from 25-27 August. Themed "HyperCity", the showcase focused on the coming together of creatives from Singapore and Japan in joint exploration of the cultural trends arising from the shifts towards a digital urban age. The event was officially launched by Mr Chaly Mah, Chairman of Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Mr Lionel Yeo, Chief Executive of STB, in conjunction with the launch of Singapore's new destination brand – Passion Made Possible - in Tokyo. Joining them were more than 200 key members of the creative, trade and media communities. The SGIO Tokyo event, at the Bank Gallery in the hip Omotesando district, drew an audience of about 2,000 on 26th of August alone. Participating Artists from Singapore and Japan:

Web3D Art Gallery ON|OFF 100101010 The Cube -Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia

As part of the Web3D Art Gallery ON|OFF 100101010on the CUBE final testing, the Rose "looks amazingly beautiful!" The Cube at the QUT Science and Engineering Centre (SEC) is one of the world's largest digital interactive learning and display spaces dedicated to providing an inspiring, exploration and participatory experience of QUT's Science and Engineering research. The Cube consists of 48 multi-touch screens soaring across two levels. Media Art Nexus NTU Singapore premiered at The CUBE, for the occasion of the exhibition “Web3D Art Gallery: on|off 100101010, colliding and surrendering: chaos and freedom where art and technologies meet”. The event is curated by June Kim, Research Associate at QUT, and Tomasz Bednarz, Director of Visualisation at EPICentre (UNSW Art&Design), Team Leader in Big Data Visualisation & Analytics (CSIRO/Data61), and Ina Conradi (A/P School of Art, Design and Media, Nanyang Technological University). The artworks and artists from Media Art Nexus NTU Singapore and School of Art, Design and Media represented in Brisbane were “The Rose” by artist Mark Chavez and Ina Conradi (A/P NTU ADM), “Face Value” by Elke Reinhuber, (Asst Prof ADM NTU) “Streak” by Al-Azmir Ibrahim (ADM Film), “The Creature” by Zhang Longfei, (ADM Film), “Flow” by Debbie Ng, (ADM Photo), and “Migration” by Madeline Ngai (ADM Vis Comm).
