Experimental Animation

The permanent exhibition of experimental animation on Media Art Nexus consists of a series of 6 innovative pieces played in real-time daily.

The Rose (2016) was programmed as an animated pin-screen, and uses six different recordings of Claude Debussy’s Clair de Lune, creating an audio-reactive painting.

Created for a 15 x 2 meter LED video wall this animation explores pinscreen animation with audio-reactive animation and emotive expression. In 2017 the piece was also adapted for 19.2m by 12m LED screen at the NTU Singapore for the occasion of An International Symposium and Exhibition: On|Off 100101010 | Colliding and Surrendering: chaos and freedom where art and technologies meet.

Together with The Rose, both animations premiered at the 8k Deep Space, for the occasion of the screening at the Ars Electronica Festival 2016, “RADICAL ATOMS and the alchemists of our time”, Linz, Austria, 8-12.09.2016
