Web3D consortium and Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Brisbane for the 22nd of 2017. Web 3D conference’s very first art exhibition titled Web3D Art Gallery: on|off 100101010, Colliding and Surrendering: chaos and freedom where art and technologies meet, 5-7 June 2017. The works premiered at the CUBE QUT, one of the world’s largest digital interactive learning and display spaces.[1 The symposium and exhibition in Singapore followed on October 11-28, 2017. Fourteen international research institutions, media labs, and cultural enterprises took part in the Singapore event.
The three-day symposium and a month-long exhibition in Singapore are aimed at presenting interdisciplinary collaborative artworks, which combine fields of art and science, technology. The international symposium and exhibition examined artistic expressions from visualizations of microscopic plankton to the abstract poetics of a flight pattern database. Curators and artists gave a series of talks about the motivation behind the works and shared their methodologies. In conjunction with the Symposium, a media art exhibition with 24 projects by 27 international and local artists co-curated and co-produced for the exhibit at the MAN NTU. The highlight of the art gallery was spectacular Noise Aquarium is a highly interdisciplinary artist-led effort with biologists, chemists, Nano-toxicologists, and an animator all working together towards a common goal—to raise consciousness about ocean pollutions. In November of 2017 the works traveled to Expanded Perception and Interaction Centre, UNSW (EPICentre) Sydney for the occasion of the event titled Visualisation Matters 2017. The event was designed to inspire audiences and demonstrate how art, science, design, and engineering can closely connect through visual creativity.

The Web3D Consortium is a member-funded industry consortium committed to the creation and deployment of open, royalty-free standards that enable the communication of real-time 3D across applications, networks, and XML web services.
